Can Fiberglass Pools Float? Hydrostatic Risk Explained

< 1 min read

Hydrostatic Pressure #

A fiberglass pool can be at risk if groundwater pressure around the shell becomes higher than the water pressure inside the pool, especially when pool water is lowered or drained. This is why dewatering well access is a critical owner responsibility.

The well allows groundwater level to be checked and lowered when needed. It should not be buried, hidden, or made inaccessible by landscaping or decking.

Owner Rules #

  • Always check the dewatering well before lowering pool water.
  • Keep the well visible and accessible after landscaping.
  • Use a sump pump when groundwater must be lowered.
  • Do not lower frozen pool water or break ice in winter.

When to Contact Okeanos #

Contact Okeanos before making major changes to water level, equipment configuration, winterization steps, site drainage, or installation scope. The right answer can depend on the exact model, equipment package, property conditions, and contract scope.

Keep photos, service notes, water test records, manuals, warranty documents, and quote paperwork together so the support team can review the situation quickly.
